Sit Tight
I recently listened to a song I wrote that I made a home demo of, back in the late 90's -- and it was so oddly resonant with our current times that the tune got stuck, badly stuck, in my head. I woke up in the middle of the night imagining images for the song... the next day I invited my niece Anna to help me over this weekend to make a music video. And we did it! We used all the family members, mostly those present, but with a few remote entries. What an incredible birthday present to myself. And my niece Anna is a genius!!
-Lyrics-
In my mind’s eye
I see where I’m going
A big empty sky
With a fresh wind blowing
Moon growing round
River on the rise
But the valley’s drowned
Soon as I open my eyes
(Sit tight)
Mend this day
To the hem of this night
Wish I may
Oh how I wish I might
Manage to sit tight
The years flit by
The months ever drumming
I don’t why
It’s so long in coming
Talkin’ ‘bout the day
When these walls fly apart
And the sun shines away
On this underground heart
(Sit tight)
Mend this day
To the hem of this night
Wish I may
Oh how I wish I might
Manage to sit tight
Fold your wings and wait
Slowly count to ten
Don’t accelerate
Now count it all again
(Sit tight...)
