Wilshire Boulevard Temple presents some of Leonard Bernstein’s greatest musical compositions in a concert narrated by his daughter and author of the memoir Famous Father Girl, Jamie Bernstein, and performed by six cantors and a chamber orchestra.
The Bernstein Concert is truly a celebration of the man and his music, featuring selections from his Broadway musicals, West Side Story, Candide, On the Town, Peter Pan, and Wonderful Town and classical compositions such as Arias and Barcarolles sung by Wilshire Boulevard Temple Cantors Don Gurney and Lisa Peicott with special guests, Cantors Phil Baron, Mark Childs, Kay Greenwald, and Stephanie Kupfer.
Performed in the soaring sanctuary of Wilshire Boulevard Temple, music and memories come together in a setting that recalls the influential origin of the composer’s work.
As the narrator, Jamie Bernstein expands on portions of her memoir with personal recollections and family history to provide insight and enrich the musical experience. Copies of her book, Famous Father Girl: A Memoir of Growing Up Bernstein, will be available for sale and signing at the event.
