Talkin’ Tahiti
Conductor Marin Alsop and artist/author Jamie Bernstein will discuss Trouble in Tahiti (which calls out Ravinia’s hometown of Highland Park by name) and its place in Bernstein’s personal life and musical cannon at 7 p.m. in Ravinia’s Park View Restaurant. Tiki-themed menu items will recall the flavors of the Fifties. This special talk has been placed between the two presentations of the one-act show, so that concert-goers to the 5 p.m. event can make dinner reservations for after their performance, and ticket-holders to the 8:30 performance can make reservations prior to their curtain, allowing everyone with dinner reservations to attend the talk. Hard-cover copies of Bernstein's best-selling memoir Famous Father Girl will be on sale for signing.
